We all had hotel rooms and we all had a wonderful time getting ready and dancing all night. It was a wonderful night with my sisters :)

SIck of rain!
I feel like every season there is something about the weather to complain about. In the winter it's too much snow, too cold, too much ice, etc. In the summer it's too hot, in the fall it's....well actually fall is pretty awesome, nothing really to complain about. But in the spring it's...TOO MUCH RAIN! I never really cared about when it rained when i was in high school, cause it didn't matter. By spring i was training for Cheerleading again....which was indoors. And now all this walking outside in the rain, it's almost unbearable. And looking at the forecast for the week....RAIN EVERYDAY! it's times like these that i really wish I owned an umbrella.

Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. It's just one of movies that I can watch over and over again and never get sick of. So Im just working on my english project and watching this wonderful movie! Not so bad of a night :D

Easter Weekend!
I am soooo excited to be going home tomorrow! It always seems like when the end of the semesters are coming I am usually just dying to come home. I haven't been home since Spring break, so that's been a little over a month and a half. Which is a pretty long time for me to go without seeing my family. However my little sister has been busy with sports and everything so I haven't really had a chance. And since it's Easter weekend I get to see my extended family as well, who I haven't seen for even longer than that! I can't wait for class to be over at 1 and then I'm heading home to Indy :)

YAY! :)
Finally! Other than this class I am completely done with all my class projects! That is seriously the best feeling ever when you 're finally done with all the work and stress. Now all I have to do is got done with the last few things and a few finals and finally summer! :) Me and my roommate always look forward to finals week, it's our marathon week. We pick a television show and have a marathon of it, while studying of course, very little tho. lol. So I am definitely looking forward to that week! :)

TV hiatus over next week!
Everyone get excited! Hiatus is almost! which means my evenings can finally go back to being normal. I swear, it has been the longest hiatus ever! Gossip Girl and 90210 have been off since im pretty sure the end of February. And a few weeks without Glee and Grey's Anatomy is stressful. And the worst part is that it means there's only a few more episodes left until they're done for the summer! :( During this time of the year, my telelvsion shows are necessary. They are therapeutic when I need to destress from a long day of classes. So the countdown is officially almost over! YAY! :)

That time of the year: Course Request
This is probably one of the most stressful times of the year for a Ball State student, deciding on which classes to take for the next semester. Now actually picking the course isn't so bad, you have your picture perfect schedule set up, no class until 10, done by 3 at the latest and sometimes even getting Friday for some early bird partying. However, it never ends up that way when the schedules come in, class at 8 almost every day including night class. Now this has happened every semester so fingers crossed that this semester it actually works out for the best.

YAY! :)
Last night we had our Epsilon Sigma Alpha elections for officers next year. I was up for the position of Educational Chair, which I wanted really bad. And I won! :) I'm soooo excited for next year and everything that I'll be able to do for our chapter by having this office. :) Oh and congrats to Susan too for being elected Secretary!! Enjoy the rain everyone!

Log #2 3/24/11
On Thursday we intensively reviewed Choa, Lacey and Nicholas' papers. Classmates volunteered ideas and suggestions on how to improve their research papers that are due soon. Choa's paper was on plastic surgery and the dangers of it. Lacey's paper discussed the cruelty of child abuse and Nicholas' paper talked about his hatred for the core curriculum. I gave a suggestion to Nick about possibly looking into Wabash College to get a better idea of liberal arts college and McArdle dissed that right in front of me....twice. Not cool. A lot of classmates had really good suggestions on how to improve their papers and were very helpful. Research Papers due SAT @ 11!! On TIME!

Log #1 3/22/11
On Tuesday we started class by reading an introduction of a paper written by Mr. McArdle during his freshman year. The discussed the introduction by pointing out the main points, thesis and purpose of the paper. It was a really long introduction, but a lot better than anything I ever wrote my freshmen year. After that we got into our intensive review groups and discussed everyone's papers. I got a lot of good ideas and suggestions on how to fix my paper so it was definitely helpful. Thursday we are reviewing papers so everyone make sure they get those done!

Ready for Summer!
So I'm very very done with school right now! I'm so ready for the semester to be over and to start working again. I feel like once spring break is over students just start counting down the days for when school is over. At least that is what im doing! But counting down almost makes it worse sometimes cuz it's still soooo far away! Ugh just ready for it to be over!

Rebecca Black? Is this girl for real??
Ok for anyone who has seen this video or heard this song im pretty sure will agree with me in saying that this song is HORRIBLE! i mean seriously? if you were this bad at singing why in the world would you you expose your horribleness to the world! It's really sad that anyone would consider this girl actually talented or even consider this good music to listen to. If you read the article that is connected to the link of the video, they compare her to Justin Beiber! Omg i dont even really like Justin Beiber and I'm insulted for him! if you want a good laugh watch the vid! lol

Pardi Gras=Pie in face!
So one of the requirements to become active in Epsilon Sigma Alpha, the service sorority on campus, is for the pledge class to put on an event to raise money for one of our charities. So today I went to our current pledge class event which was a Mardi Gra theme. It had a bunch of games and we could win beads and all them money went to Easter Seals. Well one of the things was you could bid to pie a sister in the face. Which I happily volunteered for! Omg it was awesome lol it was sooo funny seeing everyone get pied and having whip cream all over there faces. It was a great night to spend with my sisters. :)
Here's a picture of all of us before we got pied! it was sooo fun!

Dance Marathon!
So I participated in Dance Marathon last night with a bunch of my ESA sisters and some friends. I can be honest and say I was not looking forward to it, 12 hours standing up=ugh painful! But once it got started I can say that I'm very happy and glad that I participated and proud that I didn't cheat once during the entire thing! (Oh yeah!) The proceeds of the event go towards Riley Hospital and during the event they brought in a few Riley children to come speak. And it was so inspirational to hear their stories of their experiences with Riley hospital. I definitely teared up at a few of them because they were so moving. I added a few pictures, the little boy in the wheelchair his name is Braedon and he has spina bifida he was adorable! He was doing little tricks in his wheelchair all night. The next picture is a girl named Mickey, wow this girl is inspirational. She had three holes in her heart when she was born and then had Leukemia when she was a little bit older. This girl never stopped smiling and performed a dance like 3 times. Through all her hardships she still loved life and that was motivating. It took the pain away from my feet, back and legs and it was definitely wortwhile. It was extremely worthwhile and any person that didn't participate should consider it next year. It was an amazing experience.

Sick of Snow and Cold!
I seriously hate the snow; it's not even pretty to look at. I mean during Christmas is probably the only time that snow is acceptable. By January it just becomes a hassle but when it's still around in February! It becomes just extremely obnoxious. Especially when it's unbearable cold as well like it is today. I can not wait for spring, the snow has been here WAY TOO LONG!!

You can't deny it, Friends is the best television show of all time :)
So how many of ya on the blogs are Friends fans? Well if you are, wonderful! If you aren't, then you are missing out. Friends has been my all time favorite television show since around 8th grade I'd say. Which unfortunately ended before I could every watch it regularly. However my family does own every season (there are ten btw) and I've seen every episode at least 3 times, the really good ones it gets up to prolly 10 times.
However, due to the lack of Friends here at BSU (the show, not actually friends lol) with only a videotape (yes thats right, I actually have to rewind it, I forgot how long that takes) of the ten best episodes. Which I took the chance of classes being canceled (YAY!) to watch them and seriously I do not understand how anyone could not like this show. It's hilarious for one, honestly Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc (Chandler, Phoebe and Joey) steal the show. It had one of the most beloved television couples of all time (Ross and Rachel). And it's just so entertaining to watch. So for all you Friends fans out there, go watch an episode, it will brighten your day definitely (I suggest the One with All the Poker, that was is a classic)And for all you none fans, go rent a season I promise you'll love it :)

Seriously BSU???
Ok I want to know what is the criteria of the horribleness of the weather for Ball State to cancel class for the day. I mean do they even watch the News? Or look out the window! I mean we seriously had a blizzard going on outside and they neglected to cancel more than 5 hours of class. And I would like to point out that yes you need to consider the commuters who go here, who had to risk their lives driving to get to class the past few days. But what about us, the students who have to WALK TO CLASS! I mean I'm pretty sure every student on campus is sick from having to walk to class in 2 degrees weather! And not only that, but what about the ice? I seriously know 5 different people who have broken bones or sprained something from slipping and falling from the ice that covers campus. Walking to class is just not safe, Ball State administrators put their students in danger by not canceling class and I think they need to put our concern first when they decide to cancel class or not.

Second Harvest Food Bank
So yesterday I got up at 7:50 ON A SATURDAY MORNING (difficult, very difficult) with the help of some Starbucks and went with a bunch of my sisters from ESA to the Second Harvest Food Bank. The Second Food Bank takes donations from stores so people who can't afford it can feed there families When we got there we went into this huge warehouse that was about 50 degrees, which is warmer than outside but still not warm. We broke into teams, carrots, oranges and sweet potatoes and sorted through all of them and bagged them for families to take. While yes that doesnt sound like a fun thing to be doing on a Saturday morning, it was a lot of fun and a good experience and I'm very happy that I went :) It feels good knowing that even though I didnt get to sleep in, it's worth it knowing that i helped others. :)

This week has been exhausting! So glad tomorrow is Friday!
Does anyone else feel like this week has just been long and exhausting?? Everyday I just can't wait to be done with everything so I can go to bed. I feel like every class is assigning projects or tons of homework. And with taking 19 credit hours it's no wonder I'm exhausted! Especially yesterday with Furball yesterday, i worked for like 5 hours on it yesterday! But it was totally worth it since we raised a bunch of money and donations for ARF :) I just can't wait for tomorrow to be over so it will be the weekend! :) And it's my little cousin first birthday on Sunday! So I get to see my family on Sunday which I'm excited about :) Hope everyone is having a more relaxing week then me!

Rush Week! Come Join ESA! :)
Hey! So this really doesn't effect the boys in the class so this is mostly for any girls who see this and are kind of intrigued by this. I'm a member of ESA, Epsilon Sigma Alpha here at Ball State University. And new semester means new members! :) So I'm going to give you a little information on this great sorority here on campus!
Epsilon Sigma Alpha is a sorority on campus, however we are different then the greek ones here on campus. We are a service sorority, as well the only one on campus. Instead of focusing on spontaneous and dances and the social aspect of sorority life (not like there's anything wrong with that) but more on the service aspect of it. We have 3 main charities that we do a lot of service for: St. Jude Research Children's Hosptial, Camp Riley and Easter Seals. However we are not limited to only these, we help a lot of other services and charities as well. We do monthly service projects as well as Ways of Means, where we raise money for our chapter, which is beneficial for the members because our dues are ALOT cheaper than Greek sororities. We accept everyone is interested in being a part of this as well it is the time commitment that you want to put in it.
This is a great group of girls who love to help others. If you are interested you should come out to our Rush Events sometime this week :)

The 90s were so much better!
Doesn't everyone realize that the years we were younger so much better than it is now? From the style, the television shows, the fact that it was a huge deal to see a movie in 3-D? What happened to the good old days where you could where a belly shirt and not be considered a whore? Obesity wasn't as big of a problem and reality shows were barely existent. And where the most popular singers were also the most talented.
For example, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, not only were they the most popular people in the music business at that time but every single one of them were absolutely talented. And nowadays we have a large group of talentless artists who strut their stuff on the stage in the smallest costumes and talk rhythmically and call themselves artists (for example, Keshia and Miley Cyrus)
And come on? Friends? Sex and the City? While the television shows nowadays are still going strong nothing comes even close to the great phenomenon of these two television shows. I mean when was the last time you heard about a "Lost" movie? Yeah sorry not happening. Everyone knows who Rachel and Ross are and the columns of the famous Carrie Bradshaw. They are classics.
And to top it off, the cartoons that we had when we were younger in the 90's are like 200 million times better than the ones on today. Especially when you think of the classics that we had when we were younger, The Rugrats, Rocket Power, Doug, Hey Arnold, Kim Possible. And what do they have now? Nothing that I can think of thats even worth mentioning.
Don't care if you agree or not nothing beats the cartoons and music we had in the 90's :)

Hoepfully you'll get a little better idea of who I am.....:)
Well since this blog is all about getting to know everyone in the class a little bit better I figured I'd put down the basics of who I am :) And hopefully you'll find a thing or two that we have in common. And if you didn't, well then at least you learned something new about me :)
The Basics (aka the boring stuff)
My name is Kylie Jo Sturm, I'm from Indy, born and raised there. I have a twin sister named Kasie, who's 43 minutes older than me. And I have a little sister who's 17 and a Vball superstar. I went to Cardinal Ritter High School, a small Catholic private school in Indy (yes i wore the uniforms, pleated skirts and all). I am a sophomore here at BSU and live in Kinghorn. My dream is to be a teacher, always has been, hopefully at a private school. I have the best family and friends I could ever ask for. I also have the most amazing boyfriend in the entire world, we've been dating for a year and a half and he's my best friend :)

My Interests and Likes
I'm a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha here at Ball State, if you all don't know what that is it's the service sorority here. It's filled with a bunch of wonderful girls and i love knowing that I'm apart of something that's goal is to help others.
I grew up and live for country music. And not "Taylor Swift" country (that barely counts), I mean real country. Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, etc. I also love the Jonas Brothers, definitely my favorite band of all time. They are a lot more than just Disney's golden boys, they are truly talented singers and songwriters.
I love love LOVE movies :) especially Oscar worthy movies, I definitely appreciate those type of movies. My favorites would be Inglorious Bastards, Chicago, Black Swan, Slumdog Millionaire, Titanic, etc. I'm also a sucker for chick flicks (hey I'm a girl). I'm currently watch Sweet Home Alabama (love Patrick Dempsey and Josh Lucas!) but my favorite would probably be the Notebook.
I'm a huge HUGE Harry Potter fan. I think it's just phenomenal that a book series that could be so big that it has it's own theme park! They are extremely entertaining and definitely my favorite books of all time. I'm one of those fans who dress all up for the midnight premieres, I went as Dobby :) If you haven't read them...DO IT NOW! YOU'RE MISSING OUT!
I love TV :) Favorite of all time is Friends, probably the best television show of all time. I'm a huge Gossip Girl, Glee and Grey's Anatomy as well (The Three G's!) Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Kendra are my guilty pleasures, they are so entertaining! :)
Hopefully you learned a little bit more about me :)

Saddest story ever!
So I wasn't really sure what to write for this blog, nothing really interesting happened to me since this semester has started that I felt was worth putting on it. But when I was about to get on Facebook this article title stopped me for a second and intrigued me so much that I just had to read it.
The article was about a family was effected by the floods that are happening in Australia. Their white Mercedes was getting flooded and a passerby, Warren McErean, scrambled to the car to try and help them before it was swept away. Jordan Rice, a 13 year old Australian boy who couldn't swim and was absolutely terrified of water begged McErean to save him younger brother and mother first. Doing this a 13 year old boy made the ultimate sacrifice; by the time McErean was able to go back for Jordan and his mother it was too late. The car was swept away by the flood waters and they both died. Jordan Rice is being honored as hero today.
This is just amazing to me. I just couldn't believe that a little boy would be so brave. A sacrifice that most grown men and women wouldn't be able to do a 13 year old boy without hesitation did. A boy who had his whole life ahead of him and gave that all up so his little brother could survive. Even with his brother was on his way to safety he insisted that his mother would go next. And that was the only thing he was worried about. To me that boy is the strongest and bravest person in the world. He made the ultimate sacrifice because his brother's life was more important to him. This article really touched me and I have it linked below in case anyone else wants to read it.
